Hazardous materials are substances or chemicals that pose a health hazard, a physical hazard, or
harm to the environment. Due to the significant health and physical risks hazardous materials, i.e., “hazmats,” can pose during transportation, those who handle, prepare, or are responsible for those handling and preparing these items for transportation have specific training requirements to fulfill these responsibilities. This course will provide training to prepare and offer hazardous materials shipments for transportation by ground to ensure full compliance with the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR).
This training is intended to cover the three vital areas of general awareness, function-specific, and safety and security for qualified personnel who read and interpret these regulations to supervise or train hazmat employees, classify or name materials, sign shipping papers, comply with reporting and recordkeeping mandates, or have overall responsibility for hazmat shipping compliance.
The United States Department of Transportation requires training within 90 days of hire or a change in job function for hazmat employees, with recurrent hazmat training being required at least every three years.

This IATA training course covers the fundamentals of shipping dangerous goods by air according to the IATA regulations, reviewing all steps which must be addressed when preparing dangerous goods for shipment by air. This course uses the 64th Edition (2023) of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
This course is designed to help employers meet the requirements for IATA training as specified in Section 1.5 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and 49 CFR 172 Subpart H, including testing of participants. IATA regulations state that retraining should occur every 24 months (IATA DGR 1.5).
*DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation certification is a prerequisite to register for this course.

This course comprehensively reviews the directives of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), focusing primarily on the regulatory requirements relating to hazardous waste generators. Attendees will be trained on the statutes that explain how generators should handle hazardous waste from the point of generation to its shipment for disposal to be RCRA-compliant. Attendees will leave training being able to properly recognize, classify, and manage hazardous wastes to identify situations that could cause releases, and when necessary, react quickly to prevent or stop those releases from entering the environment.
Training is required annually for qualified personnel within a certain time “after the date of their employment or assignment to a facility, or to a new position at a facility, whichever is later.” This course is recommended for first-time attendees and those wanting a more in-depth review of RCRA requirements compared to the RCRA/DOT Refresher Training.
