Job Description:

An environmental specialist uses principles of engineering, science and biology to improve and enhance the living conditions of the environment. They are responsible for determining the causes of environment problems and providing practical solutions of eliminating the hazardous substances from the environment. They are required to provide a scientific solution to the environmental problems, such that it leaves a minimum impact on the overall health of the public or environment. Through many industrial, municipal and community projects, this staff member will work to improve & maintain air, water and land resources, alleviating pollution as well as other factors that affect the state of the environment. This ultimately benefits not only the environment but also the health & wellness of the citizens affected by these projects.
The main duties and responsibilities of the
Environmental Specialist are:
1. Conduct researches and examine sources of pollution.
2. Create and propose ways to eradicate pollution and hazards.
3. Incorporate the different disciplines of environmental studies such as ecology and natural sciences to researches.
4. Observe and collect samples of food, soil, water and air and conduct studies and reports about environmental conditions.
5. Conduct field inspections and report hazardous locations and materials.
6. Coordinate with regulatory agencies, businesses & municipalities about matters of pollution and environmental hazards.
7. Maintain records related to environmental complaints and data of permits, inspections and researches done.
This position will work under and report to the General Manager.

Required Qualifications:
At least 60 completed course hours toward a degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
Good interpersonal relationship skills & the ability to work with minimal supervision
Willingness to interpret local, state & federal regulations and apply to traditional & unique industrial functions.

Desired Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science
Ability to handle engineering & non-engineering tasks & projects with minimal assistance.
